First, students step into the boots of Continental Army officers in Ragtag to Regimented - Washington’s Winter Turnaround, an interactive simulation where they advise General Washington, evaluate the leadership of Baron von Steuben and the Marquis de Lafayette, and experience the transformation of the army at Valley Forge.
Then, once they’ve lived the hardship and leadership firsthand, they’ll move into the companion project, Convincing the French: A Case for Support from Valley Forge. In this creative, standards-aligned extension, students help Benjamin Franklin and John Adams persuade France to join the American cause by using evidence and insights drawn directly from their simulation experience.
Together, these two components create a seamless journey from battlefield transformation to diplomatic triumph.
